The Kentucky Department of Veterans Affairs has announced that it plans to promote programs to benefit the approximately 33,000 female military veterans in the commonwealth throughout 2015.
Gov. Steve Beshear said Tuesday that he has issued a proclamation that 2015 will be the Year of the Woman Veteran in Kentucky.
Efforts will include a statewide conference in April focusing on issues of importance to female veterans. The Department of Veterans Affairs also plans a series of events throughout the year related to “the specific concerns of women veterans in all aspects of their lives, including physical and mental health, education, employment and housing,” the department said in a release. Details of the events will be announced later.
